Our programs wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our amazing coaches! We’re continuing to highlight our Team AB coaches, and this week we talked to Maegan Ciesielski head coach of our para athletics team.
Coaching Experience:
I have been coaching para track and field for 4 years, mostly as the head coach of the track team at The Steadward Centre. I started coaching for Team Alberta at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games and am on the team for the 2020 Canada Summer Games, now postponed to 2021. I am currently finishing up my NCCP club coach certification, and also have a Master of Arts degree with a specialization in Adapted Physical Activity.
What does coaching mean to you?
Being an athlete gave me so many opportunities: to make friends, to travel, to learn the value of hard work, and to push my own limits. I want to make sure everybody has these same opportunities.
Favourite team AB moment?
I love just hanging out in the sun watching track 🙂
What’s a fun fact you would like to share?
I had two big milestones during the pandemic – finishing my masters and getting married!
I need to become an atlete. I am a people with disability and I live in Edmonton, Northwest
