Canada Winter Games – Basketball Tryouts

Team Alberta will be holding an Open Invitation training camp to all Alberta athletes that are interested in trying out for the Alberta Canada Winter Games team in February 2019.

Details below:

Dates: Saturday, June 23rd

Court time 1pm – 4pm / 5pm – 7pm

Sunday, June 24th

Court time 9am – 12pm

Location:  Edmonton Saville Centre (11610-65 Avenuehttp://www.savillecentre.ca/ located at the South University of Alberta Campus

Athletes are to bring the following to training camp:

– Sport Wheelchair

– Spare equipment that you might need

– Water Bottle

– Snacks (A supper break will be included and their are nutritious restaurants on site)

– A reversible jersey with two colors

– Alberta Medical Form

There is no Fee for this camp however the attached Alberta Medical Form must be filled out and either sent into me ahead of time or on the day of camp.  This form will be used throughout the year for training and competition.  The form only needs to be filled out if you have not filled out the form before or your medical situation has changed in the last 6 months and you are on some new medications or updated injury information.

Athletes traveling from out of town as long as you are travelling in a group and gas receipts are submitted you will be reimbursed.  Athletes coming from a location where no other athletes are located your gas will be reimbursed.

The host hotel for the camp will be Holiday Inn Express 4485 Gateway Blvd https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/edmonton/yegem/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=GoogleMaps-_-HI-_-CA-_-YEGEM.  Rooms fees are paid for and you will just need to place a credit card for incidental charges.

Athletes that are in close proximity to Edmonton including Calgary athletes hotel rooms will be covered for the Saturday night stay.  Athletes from Grand Prairie and farther South of Calgary a Friday arrival and hotel room will be covered.

Saskatchewan’s first provincial ParaSport relay begins

Starting today, 14 athletes will be relaying a dream catcher 363 kilometres across Saskatchewan.

The group is travelling from Prince Albert to Regina in 10 days and stopping at communities along the way to raise awareness about ParaSports and how people can get involved.

The Saskatchewan ParaSport Tour Dream Relay was started by Paralympic cross-country skier Colette Bourgonje.

“We have visually impaired athletes, amputee athletes and people in wheelchairs making their way to Regina,” said Bourgonje.
