More info on Wheelchair Basketball
This program aims to create opportunities for Indigenous individuals and those who may or may not be experiencing a disability. We achieve a high level of inclusion by offering an Adaptive Sports program designed to generate new opportunities for communities in Treaty 6 and Treaty 8. Wheelchair basketball is a national and Paralympic-level sport, creating tremendous opportunities for those who need it the most. At WSA, we believe in the program’s potential to be an amazing opportunity for individuals in Indigenous Communities and for those who may or may not be experiencing a disability within those communities.
At WSA, we are delighted to offer this program to Indigenous Communities at no cost. This provides the opportunity for outreach communities to have access to a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable adaptive sports experience. For communities with particular interest in the sport of Wheelchair Basketball, WSA will happily help you start the process, (by giving contacts, resources, finding grants etc.) for creating a club or organization within your community.

FAQ:
How much will this program cost?
This program is free to access for Indigenous Communities, thanks to the generous support of Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Sport Canada.
Where do we offer this program?
We are proud to be able to offer this program in Treaty 6 and 8. We can bring the equipment to you and your community that has access to a gym suitable for wheelchair sports. A guide can also be provided for new communities/groups looking to book a showing.
How long does a session take?
The longer the better. Ideally we would like to make sessions minimum 1 hour. This will allow some time for participants to get a feel for the equipment. Week long camps are also a great way to support a chance for participants to develop their skills and enjoy the game.
What is the best age group for Wheelchair Basketball?
From our experience ages 10+ have the best chance at understanding the basics of Wheelchair Basketball and getting a good grasp on how to use the equipment.
